Before I start - Let’s be sure to take the time to remember our Military personnel for their service to us and our country. Also remember to think of and pray for their families. Whenever you see a Veteran on the street stop, shake their hand and thank them for their service. God bless all of the men and women of our armed forces and pray that they all come home safe. Honor – Remember – Respect all Veterans Thank You
It's that time to get started on blogging about another motorcycle adventure. It’s been to long since I have taken a trip. I'm will enjoy reminiscing about our previous trips. This is my sixth blog and my hopes are to continue writing about all of my motorcycle adventures. RIDE ON and RIDE SAFE.
I said on the evening of September 25, 2016 that next year I will be getting the BAND back together. That time has come and here we are heading to the Ozarks. I am going to try and update this blog on a daily basis during our trip if time and Internet access permits so all my family and friends at home can see our trip as it progresses. Everyone be sure to check back often to see our motorcycle journey updates. But I am also sorry that the previous group of guys could not make the trip this year. We are riding with John which is a new member of the band. John I sure hope you enjoy this trip. Elvis and Rick we are sure going to miss you this year.
As it quickly approaches departure time it seems like I don't have anything ready to go. I’ve had my share of issues before this trip even started. I’m starting to watch the future weather forecasts along our planned destination.
Motorcycle Trip Blog Accounts
6/02/17 Friday
Got everything packed and then went out to Papa's Pizza Place in Woodridge for dinner with my wonderful wife Eva and our daughter Samantha. After dinner we came home and loaded everything into the motorcycle and trailer for an early morning departure. I want to thank my wonderful wife for all of her help in preparing for this trip. Steve, John and myself will be spending our first night in Calvert City Kentucky where we will meet up with my brother Michael whom is coming from Calhoun Tennessee.
6/3/17 Saturday
Left Lockport this morning and headed to Calvert City Kentucky
and meet up with my brother Michael. We encounter some rain and storms for a
short time. Long enough to have to stop and put on our rain gear. Shortly after
putting on the rain gear the storms subsided. We got in to camp that evening
around 5;00 p.m. We decided to go to Patti’s 1880 for dinner. The dinner was
awesome we had pork chops that was 2” thick and they were outstanding. I would
highly recommend it to anyone. But if you plan on going to eat there be sure to
make reservations in advance. We went back to camp and called it a night.
6/4/17 Sunday
Left Calvert City, Kentucky KOA this morning and headed to
Eureka Spring Arkansas KOA. The Calvert City KOA was nice and the people who
operated the KOA was helpful. It was an awesome ride for the most part. The
roads were awesome riding over to Eureka Spring. We were riding in and out of
rain for some of the day. We encounter some storms during today’s ride. Then
when we were about two – three hours away from Eureka Springs we hit some heavy
rain to the point that we hardly could see in front of us. We made it into to Eureka Spring KOA that
evening. We checked in at the Koa and
went to find someplace to eat dinner only to find out that the town folds up
early on Sunday. We went to the Cottage Inn restaurant and see white table
cloths on the tables and look at a menu. We decided not to eat there figured it
was out of our price range and dress attire. We drove a little further and
found a placed called The Rowdy Beaver. The food was very good. After dinner we
went back to camp and called it a night.
6/5/17 Monday
We got up this morning and headed out for a day ride over to
Boxley, Oark, Springdale, Rodgers, and back to Eureka Springs. We stopped and
had dinner at A Q Chicken in Springdale. The dinner was very good and you got
plenty to eat. It reminded me of White Fence Farm. It was another full day of
riding.
6/6/17 Tuesday
We got up this morning and headed out for another day ride out
of Eureka Springs. We did the Peel Ferry ride out of Harrison Arkansas. This
ride took us over to Peel Ferry and across the lake to and rode into Branson
Missouri and back over to Eureka Springs KOA. These roads were outstanding. We
stopped for dinned back at the Rowdy Beaver. After having dinner we went back
to camp for the night.
6/7/17 Wednesday
We got up and headed out for another day ride. Today we are
riding Eureka Springs to Harrison back road run. It was another day of awesome
roads and lots of twist and turns. The weather has been pretty good ever since
getting here on Sunday. We went into
Eureka Springs for dinner that night at a Mexican restaurant. After dinner we head back to camp and called
it an evening.
6/8/17 Thursday
We got up and headed over to Sillisaw, OK / Fort Smith, AR. We
had another awesome day of riding going over to Sillisaw KOA. We rode the Pig
Trail along with several other awesome roads with lots of twist and turns. We
got into Sillisaw KOA early afternoon. The owners of the KOA are fantastic
people and said if we need anything to let them know. They have a beautiful
campground and lots of activities for all to do. I would highly recommend
anyone traveling and looking for a place to stay to come and stay at the
Sillisaw / Fort Smith KOA.
6/9/17 Friday
Got up this morning and headed out for another day ride. We did
the Scenic 71 loop and Devils Den State Park.
